I’m Anne Sutherlin, a local artist based in the Aurora Cultural Arts District. At my booth, you'll find original paintings and collages, hand-pulled monoprints, and affordable prints. I work with acrylics, watercolors, and collage in bold colors, botanical forms, landscapes, and abstract compositions. My process is intuitive and exploratory, letting the materials guide me rather than forcing a preconceived plan. I blend traditional painting techniques with unexpected materials and color combinations, sometimes incorporating found papers and vintage elements. What makes my work different? My background in anthropology (specifically how human brains evolved to respond to visual aesthetics) influences how I approach color and composition, tapping into something primal about visual rhythm and pattern. My neurodivergent brain sees connections others might miss, resulting in compositions that surprise and engage.
